FUSION continued its capacity building programme online on 28 and 30 April 2026 with a technical module focused on Production and Supply Chain Management. The sessions were designed to help participating MSMEs improve operational reliability and reduce the risks that can undermine their ability to meet institutional supply commitments.
The module addressed practical issues that food and supply-chain businesses face every day. Participants worked through supply-chain mapping, production-capacity planning, production scheduling, inventory management, safety-stock calculation, supplier risk management and SOP development. The discussions also drew directly on challenges raised by participants, including raw-material availability, supplier reliability, fluctuating demand and production bottlenecks.
A central message of the module was the need to move from reactive production towards more proactive and system-based management. For institutional markets, a supplier needs to be able to anticipate demand, plan resources, monitor inventory and manage dependencies across its supply chain. These systems help businesses improve predictability and reduce the risk of disruption.
The training was designed to generate practical outputs rather than stop at technical discussion. Participants developed supply-chain maps, production plans, inventory-planning tools and draft SOPs that could later be refined through mentoring.
Attendance records show 19 participants in the first online session and 17 in the second. Despite the virtual format, the report records active discussion and continued engagement with operational issues that directly affect supplier readiness.
